Blind Veteran in Baltimore Receives a New Roof!
On Friday, December 6th, a blind Veteran living in Baltimore with his wife received a brand new roof thanks to the combined efforts of Owens Corning Roofing, The Home Depot Foundation, AROCON, and Purple Heart Homes.
Rigoberto King-Levy, a Panama native, is a Vietnam Veteran who, in his earlier years, volunteered to enter the war in order to assist his fellow troops. Some years later, after the end of his service, Mr. King-Levy began to loose his sight.
Rigoberto and his wife, Joyce, had always given themselves to help others in need, and now it was time for that help to find its way back to the Kings. Joyce has expressed sincere gratitude in the work that was put into providing her and Mr. King with their new roof saying, “They’re just working so diligently. Ya know? It is truly a beautiful sight.”
After speaking with Mr. King-Levy several days after the finishing of their new roof he remarked about the new feel their roof has providing them saying that is feels like a “new era” has begun in their home and that there’s a “new peace” and that they loved their new comfort. He also added their neighbors have complemented the job that was done for them.
Rigoberto and Joyce, we at Purple Heart Homes wish you the very best during holidays and that your new comfort is only just beginning.
